A Group of Five Wood Figures of Lohans
Tibet, 18th Century
Each finely carved seated on a double-cushion base or waisted plinth, wearing voluminous robes with designs outlined in gold, the exposed body parts painted in cold gold and facial features highlighted in polychrome, inscribed on the reverse with instructions for positioning, plugged openings on the base and reverse for consecration, one figure at center with princely robes accompanied by a dog identified as the attendant Dharmatala and one figure holding a mongoose identified as Arhat Bakula
