Central Persia, early 13th Century
On vertical foot, the white interior with six radaiating black lines each with reserved naskh between cobalt-blue lines dividing panels containing floral motifs and arabesque panels, the exterior with waterweed-motifs, repaired with very slight restoration

Lot Essay

The inscription in the raidating bands is a Persian quatrain attributed to Jamal al-Din Ashhari (see Ghouchani, A.: Persian Poetry in the Tiles of Takht-i Sulayman, Tehran, 1992, p.50), and two undeciphered verses.
