A LARGE CARVED RED LACQUER TABLE SCREEN

Consisting of five panels, the central section carved with a continuous scene of a festive gathering of immortals and attendants bearing peaches, double gourds and other auspicious objects in a large courtyard, centering a figure of Guanyin dressed in flowing robes and holding a large lotus leaf, with other immortals riding on a cloud, as well as a bat and a phoenix above, the side panels with immortals travelling through the landscape, including two riding an elephant and a buddhistic lion, between borders of floral sprays including lotus and peony blossoms, surmounted by a cusped and curvilinear crest carved with five-clawed dragons pursuing a flaming pearl amidst dense clouds, all raised on a waisted base with a band of squared scrolls interspersed with bats and wan emblems, reserved on a ground of diaper pattern and between two lappet borders
