THE PROPERTY OF A GENTLEMAN (LOTS 778-783) This distinctive group of French furniture and works of art was assembled in Paris in the first half of the 20th century. Until the late 1940's it furnished the lavish rooms of an hôtel particulier, rue de la Faisanderie, in the 16ème arrondissement. The black and white photographs taken in the 1930's illustrate in situ some of the lots offered here as well as some of the lots sold at Christie's King Street, 'Parisian Taste in London A Private Collection', 10 September 2009, lots 363-384.

The oval grey-veined white marble top with a three-quarter pierced gallery, above four short graduated drawers inlaid with Love attributes, centred to each side by ribbon-tied arrows and to the reverse with doves within a floral medallion, on slightly cabriole legs terminating in foliate-cast sabots, restorations to the veneers
30¾ in. (78 cm.) high; 17 in. (43 cm.) wide; 13½ in. (34 cm.) deep
