The print sources for the scenes on the teapot are by Johann van der Gucht after Cypel from John Watt's publication of The Works of Molière (London, 1739), Vol. VI. See Siegfried Ducret ibid., p. 181, nos. 243 and 244, and p. 185, no. 251 for other pieces decorated with similar scenes from Molière derived from the same print sources.
