A MOTTLED GREENISH-GREY AND WHITE JADE FLOWER-FORM CUP
LATE MING DYNASTY, 16TH-17TH CENTURY
The cup is carved as an open flower with overlapping petals borne on a network of openwork leafy branches that form the base and continue around the sides where they bear three different flowers, including chrysanthemum and prunus, at the rim. The greenish-grey stone has extensive opaque white mottling.

A similar jade flower-form cup, dated to the Ming dynasty, in the Qing Court collection, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 41 - Jadeware (I), Hong Kong, 1995, p. 257, no. 198; like the present cup it has different flowers carved at the rim.
