Lot Essay

The present lot is based on a model by Stepan Pimenov (1784-1833), master modeller at the Imperial Porcelain Factory during the reign of Alexander I. The model was conceived by Pimenov for the Guriev Service (1809-1816). See N.B. von Wolf (ed. T.N. Nosovich), Imperatorskii farforovyi zavod, 1744-1904, St Petersburg, 2008, p. 225.
