The form of this vase is related to peachbloom-glazed panlong zun of the same period belonging to sets of peachbloom-glazed vessels for the scholar's writing table known as the ba da ma, or 'Eight Great Numbers'. The panlong zun are generally regarded as the rarest among the shapes associated with the ba da ma, with as few as five extant examples known. The plain bodies of the panlong zun are of slightly more truncated form with a more full-bodied applied chilong picked out in green. A set of eight peachbloom-glazed vessels for the writing table from the Jingguantang Collection including a panlong zun was sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 3 November 1996, lot 557. The carved chilong around the sides of the body are reminiscent of those found on Kangxi celadon-glazed brush pots, such as the example sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2012, lot 2298.
