A RECTANGULAR HONGMU CARVED BOX AND COVER
19TH/20TH CENTURY
The cover is centred with a rectangular plaque and carved in relief on either side with confronting dragons writhing about a flaming pearl amidst cloud scrolls, the sides are all carved with the auspicious design of five bats in flight about a central shou motif, the edges are bordered by keyfret scroll, the interior of the box is lined in silk.
6 5/8 in. (16.8 cm.) high, 17¼ in. (43.8 cm.) wide, 10¼ in. (26 cm.) deep
