A TACHI IN SHIRASAYA AND A KATANA IN SHIRASAYA
MUROMACHI PERIOD (15TH and 16TH CENTURY)
The honzukuri tachi length 69.3cm of shallow koshizori curve, fumbari, and a ko-kissaki, itame nagare and mokume hada, suguha-cho hamon of ko-nie, indistinct boshi, on the tachi omote of the tang the inscription Oni-O-Maru [The Demon King], the shirasaya with an inscription of Inami, Hakusui, stating that the blade is signed Oni-O-Maru of Dewa Province and dates from the Eireki era (1160-1161), and that it was polished in 1946 at the polishing studio of the Hakusui Society; the second, a deeply-curved slender katana, slightly suriage, length 61.3cm, fine ko-itame nagare hada, gunome choji hamon, with a midare-komi ko-maru boshi, with signature Nobukuni (2)
