The case with handle to the repoussé brass basket top and later finials to the angles, silk-backed repoussé brass wreath and flower sound frets to the sides, front door probably replaced, with frets to the top rail, the stepped and moulded base raised on later feet, the 6½in. square brass dial with later winged cherub mask spandrels to a silvered chapter ring with trident half hour markers, matted centre with box date aperture below XII, blued steel hands, the movement with four ringed and latched pillars, shaped plates, twin gut fusees with later anchor escapement and internal countwheel, the backplate engraved overall with foliate scrolls and with central (vacant) signature cartouche -- 12½in. (31.5cm.) high to hilt of handle
