Rectangular, the cover applied with a gilt and silvered badge of the Scotts Guards, the front engraved with presentation inscription, the interior gilt; together with a Victorian example mark of William Gibson and John Langman, London, 1898, the twin hinged covers applied with crowned initial 'C' below a viscount's coronet; and a third George V example, Chester, 1920, with presentation inscription, each marked to base and cover
the first, 6.1/2 in. (16.5 cm.) wide
48 oz. 2 dwt. (1,500 gr.)
The inscription on the first reads 'To C from H.S. ; Lieut. Colonel Lord Adolphus Vane Tempest, M.P. / Served in the Scots Fusilier Guards from 1845 to 1859 / he was present at the siege / and fall of Sebastopol'.

The inscription to the third reads 'To Viscount Castlereagh / for / The Seaham Harbour Constitutional Club, / on his coming of age / 18th Nov. 1923'.
