AN EXTENSIVE AND VARIED COLLECTION OF EARLY GAMESPIECES
The majority Persian, 9th-13th Century
Comprising a number of ivory and bone pieces, some of simple domed form, others with more complex turned designs, many decorated with drilled circles, one lightly etched with Mughal style floral designs, three of black stained ivory and bone, one of which has vertical ribbing, two of very dark blue-green glass, part of a set in unglazed pottery, the shapes similar to the rock-crystal sets known from the period, one ivory piece later carved on the front with human head, together with six dice of ivory or stone, and an ivory molar flask with drilled decoration
