The central panel overlaid with stained ivory carvings to depict a scene of a crane standing on rockwork beneath an aged pine tree on a verdant ground growing flowers, against the sky-blue shaded background, flanked by a side panel similarly carved, the reverse side gilt-decorated with bats in flight against a black lacquer ground, the panels are framed under a carved hardwood capital decorated with shou characters interspersed with bats in flight against a ruyi-cloud ground, and supported on a waisted plinth finely carved with lappets
