With incurved corners and a raised gallery, the centre inlaid with a fruitwood panel, four turned wood wheels, an old label under base inscribed 'Mrs Clive. Brympton d'Evercy, Yeovil. Cat No. 56.' and a partial label from a treasures exhibition of 1937 (possibly Grosvenor House)

Lot Essay

The label inscribed 'Cat No. 56.' probably relates to the 1956 auction of the Contents of Brympton d'Evercy, home of the Ponsonby Fane family, by John D. Wood.
