An Odo Ware Mizusashi [Water Jar] and a Group of Utagaruta [Poem Cards]
Edo Period (18th-19th Century)
The mizusashi hexagonal with four long and two short sides, the yellowish-brown stoneware body entirely covered, except for the base, the interior of the lid and some small areas near to the base, with a dark grey glaze, the lid with a knop in the form of a half-lozenge within a half-circle, old repairs to lid; the cards inscribed with poems in ink on gold-lacquered paper
The mizusashi 7 11/16 x 7 15/16 x 5 15/16in. (19.5 x 20.2 x 15.1cm.), the cards each 3 7/16 x 2 3/8in. (8.8 x 6.0cm.) (2)
