The steel barrel faceted toward the miquelet lock, the wood stock covered with silver-gilt sheets, the repoussé decoration with rococo floral arabesques on finely pounced ground, the miquelet lock flanked by lions, two small buildings flanked by similar lions on the other side, the underside with a continuous floral arabesque, the barrel inscribed Londion waranted (sic) and engraved with birds, illegible stamped marks on the barrel, steel corroded

Long guns such as the present example with a swallow tail-stock curving upwards are traditionally made in Albania or Northern Greece and called rasak. They are often fully metal-encased and show a great diversity in their decoration as they were often made after individual's specifications (Anthony C. Tirry, Islamic Weapons, Maghrib to Moghul, Washington, 2003, p.156-7). This is a particularly richly decorated example.
