Although this bottle may be an import from Europe to meet the demands of the Chinese market, it is also possible that it was made at Boshan, Shandong province, in the late Qing dynasty, when some German glassworkers were involved with the glassworks there. For a discussion of these European-style glass bottles see Moss, Graham, Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles, The Mary and George Bloch Collection, Vol. 5, Part 2, Glass, Hong Kong, 2002, pp. 410-11.
