An unusual large tsuba and three others
Unsigned, Edo Period (19th Century)
An unusual large circular iron-rimmed copper tsuba, decorated in shakudo takazogan with a heap of pots outside a hut, a broken cask afloat on the reverse; a rounded-rectangular iron tsuba with slightly raised rim decorated in gilt nunomezogan with massed scrolling tendrils interspersed with small cherry blossoms and hoshimon, the ryohitsu formed as sedge hats, Awa-Shoami style, 19th Century; a rokumokkogata tsuba decorated in Heianjozogan style with clematis flowers and tendrils, the rim with a narrow ropework border, 17th/18th Century; and an oval iron tsuba decorated in yosukashi and nikubori with a ho-o and a pine tree, slight gilt detail, signed Choshu Hagi ju Tomomasa, early 19th Century
