Bruno Giacosa, Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva 1990
Piedmont
US integrated slip labels
Tasting note: The blockbuster 1990 Barbaresco-Santo Stefano-Riserva (red label) exhibits a profound nose of sweet fruit, smoked meats, spice, and fruitcake-like scents. Exceptionally deep, concentrated, and full-bodied, with wonderful richness, as well as a layered, concentrated texture, this moderately tannic wine should be at its best by the late nineties and last through the first two decades of the next century. If Giacosa is correct and this wine turns out to be a modern day clone of the 1971, expect this wine to merit a three digit point score circa 2005! Robert Parker, Wine Advocate 92, April 1994
