Lot Essay

Thomas B. Rennell was a sea captain who traveled throughout the Far East. His ship, the Aquelnet, arrived in Bengal from London on Dec. 10, 1847 (Allen's Indian Mail (London, 1848), vol. VI, p.75). During his travels, Captain Rennell acquired relics that he sent to Sarah Wistar Miller (1827-1921), a friend and suitor.
