FOUR ARCHAISTIC JADE CARVINGS
comprising of a very large green jade dagger-axe with mottled russet and grey surface, the pointed blade with bevelling to its wide surface, a large round drill hole to the tang; a celadon and brown jade ritual object, of a long slender blade form with one bevelled surface, one edge has been flattened the other carved into a shallow point, from the same section of stone a ritual disc is carved to its centre, the upper surface of the blade has been bevelled, the flattened edge decorated in relief with rockwork rising from foaming waters, the disc carved in low relief with curling and spiraling taotie mask motifs, the flattened underside of the blade with incised constellations; an opaque green stone figure, the stone extensively altered to the reverse, modelled as a bearded man in long robes, carrying a large fly-whisk; and a large deep green and brown jade in the form of a mirror, carved in relief to its upper surface with four large taotie masks on an incised key-fret ground and with a high central knop, a drill hole to its base -- The first 24in.
