A MOTTLED DEEP CELADON JADE CHISEL, NEOLITHIC PERIOD
of flattened tapering rectangular form with two sharpened edges, two cylindrical holes drilled to the body, one with further evidence of bamboo drilling, circa 2000BC, North West China, Qijia Culture; a pale green jade handle of flattened form, with areas of ivory-white alternation and the remains of cinnabar to the surface, of flattened form indented to one end the other cut to a steep angle, Shang or Western Zhou Dynasty (1600-771BC); and a mottled deep green ceremonial axe head of flattened form with notched edges, two cylindrical bore holes to the body, Western Zhou Dynasty (1100-771BC) -- The first 6½in. (16.5cm.) wide. (3)
