PRESENTATION COPY to the author's daughter, Christina, front free endpaper inscribed, "To my dear little Xtina for her birthday July 3rd 1910".
FIRST EDITION of this historical romance set in the Regency period. At the date of this inscription, Christina was thirteen; Hueffer was already separated from his family and involved in the much publicised affair with Violet Hunt. He was to see both his daughters for the last time in the summer of 1916, when Christina told him of her decision to become a nun. Harvey A30.
