This study is one of the numerous designs for a Gothic cathedral in commemoration of the War of Liberation (see note to lot 1). The drawing of a suite of furniture on the reverse was probably drawn in the late 1820s or early 1830s, presumably for Prince Wilhelm's palace, Unter den Linden, Berlin.
