The rust-red field with a maze-work formed coffer lattice enclosing muted polychrome sunburst rosettes overall within a muted polychrome flowerhead coffered border between cream and brown barber-pole guard borders, open rust-red outer border, very ragged ends and sides, large hole to centre, heavy wear
Approximately 3ft. 5in. x 2ft. 5in. (104cm. x 74cm.)
Warp: white cotton Z5S, at edges slightly depressed and slightly undulating, generally considerably depressed and undulating
Weft: 3 shoots light blue cotton (one shoot 10cm. from bottom ivory cotton) Z3S, first and third slightly undulating, second more so
Pile: silk, Z2-5, asymmetrical open to the left, H3.1 x V2.2/cm.
Sides: main weft sometimes bound flatwoven with two additional warps, sometimes passing between the two and the outermost knotted warp over the flatweave, overbound in red silk yarn Z3S passing between the outermost knotted warp and the two additional warps
