The barrels chiselled with a standing figure at the breech and retaining traces of a gilt ground, the sighting rib engraved 'IC.G' and with a spurious inscription, the engraved tangs each retaining traces of gilding, the flat bevelled locks each chiselled with a scene of the chase in low relief and signed 'T.C. Gras Sculp.', the moulded maple full stocks carved with foliage in relief on a hatched ground on the butt and fore-end, and with full silver mounts (originally gilt) cast and chased with Classical ornament, the spurred pommels each with grotesque mask cap, the pierced side-plates involving a bound captive, a trophy of arms, and a cherub and a lion, the fore-end caps, front ramrod-pipes, and false ramrods of white-metal (one trigger replaced)
