A FRENCH D.B. FLINTLOCK CARRIAGE PISTOL
BY ALEXANDRE BOREL, CIRCA 1720-30
With sighted barrels restored to their original length and stamped on the underside of the breech with a maker's mark, 'E' crowned, signed border engraved flat bevelled locks each engraved with a trophy of the chase on the stepped tail and with foliage on the cock, moulded figured walnut full stock carved with foliage (replaced below right lock, fore-end lengthened), lightly chiselled iron mounts (forward ramrod-pipe replaced), spurred pommel with floral cap, pierced and chased silver escutcheon with griffin supporters and coronet above, and iron-capped ramrod (lengthened)
