Small 4° (232 x 175mm). Engraved headpiece of the Academie Royale in session, 8 engraved medals. (Occasional browning.) Contemporary Italian vellum.

Marginal autograph annotations in ink throughout by Queen Christina (150 annotations on 54 pages) in French, translating Latin headings and commenting on the text. Inserted is also a letter from the Queen signed, Io la Regina, Rome, 25 July 1671, in Italian to Marchese Gherardini in Verona, 1 page with conjugate address leaf, paper seal. Christina abdicated and became a Roman Catholic in 1655; she went to live in Paris, tried unsuccessfully to regain her throne, and later moved to Rome.
