Aldine 8° (159 x 96mm). Italic type. With blank fol. l2, inverted V in the colophon and the Aldine anchor device on final leaf. Red morocco panelled in blind, gilt turn-ins, marbled paper endleaves, edges marbled and gilt, by Trautz-Bauzonnet. Provenance: Alessandro Franchetti (bookplate, Opera dantesche appartenenti alla Biblioteca Franchetti in Firenze (1865), no.8; sale 1922); Cesare Cicogna (bookplate).
First Aldine edition, with the first appearance of the famous Aldine anchor device. It previously formed part of Franchetti's celebrated Dante collection. Adams D-83; Renouard 34:5.
