A KURA (SADDLE)
WITH INSCRIPTION JYOO SAN (1654) KINOE UMA REKI, SEIWA KICHIJO BI KITAGAWA ZO AND KAO, 18TH/19TH CENTURY
The exterior faces of the saddle showing in natural wood, decorated with a coiled gold lacquered dragon, the interior originally nashiji lacquered which has been stripped off; together with a set of leather harness (kurashiki, shitagura and chikara-obi), decorated with dragon in gilt and iroe probably later than kura; and a leather strap with brass bamboo leaves mon (5)
