TURKEY, 17TH CENTURY

Of rectangular form on four bracket feet, the top decorated with a complex geometric design radiating from a central twelve-pointed star and resolving into pentagons, each panel divided by chequerboard stringing, in a border of wood, ivory and white-metal inlaid reciprocal Y-patterning between plain stripes, the front with three drawers with geometric fronts, a lower band of reciprocal trefoil designs, between Y-pattern stripes, the sides and back with further pentagonal interlace panels within rope-pattern borders, the interior re-fitted, the lower front panel now also forming a drawer, very slight losses and old repairs to inlay
