4° (302 x 227mm). Half-title. 9 ENGRAVED PROOF PLATES, 3 after Pierre-Paul Prudhon, 6 after François Gérard, by Roger, Godfroy, Massard and Marais. CONTEMPORARY RED VIENNESE HALF MOROCCO, BOUND FOR DUKE ALBRECHT OF SAXE-TESCHEN BY GEORG FRIEDRICH KRAUSS, red paper sides, the flat-backed spine divided into seven compartments, two with green morocco lettering-pieces, the others with the duke's monogram AS surrounded by an aureole, signed with ink stamp on front free endpaper: G.F. Krauss Relieur a Vienne. Provenance: Duke Albrecht (1738-1822, founder of the 'Albertina', binding); R.D. (bookplate); Oscar Ladner (bookplate).
A FINE COPY, WITH PROOF PLATES, OF THE LAST OF THE GREAT 18TH-CENTURY ILLUSTRATED EDITIONS OF LONGUS.
