4° (250 x 205mm). Written in four different calligraphic hands, f.2 with 4 staves of music with accompanying text, two pen-and-ink vignettes. Contemporary North-German red straight-grained morocco gilt, the covers with a gilt panel design over inlays of green, blue and yellow morocco, the flat spine divided into six compartments by double fillets and tooled with a gilt flowerhead, gilt turn-ins, speckled calf doublures with gilt roll-tool border, with a large centrally-placed stencilled light-brown star shape, purple silk endleaves, g.e. (spine very slightly rubbed), original stiff marbled-paper wrappers.

A richly inlaid German neo-classical binding. Presented to the departing head of the Hamburg Bank by four of his colleagues, containing music and verses composed by them in his honour; the artistic merits of the binding add substantially to the laudatory contents.
