2° (298 x 202mm). 48 double-page woodcut maps, woodcut initials, with blanks aa4 and c6, woodcut printer's device on verso of last leaf. (Maps 24, 29, 30 and 44 cleanly torn at folds, tears at foot of map 37 affecting 4cm. of image, upper right corner of title torn away not affecting text, a few leaves with marginal stains.) Early 17th-century calf, spine gilt in compartments (rubbed, split at head of upper hinge, small chip at foot of spine. Provenance: Georgius Nisbetus (signature on title dated 1544); Johannes Rymer (signature on final leaf); Will. More (inscription on title dated 6 August 1685); Wm. Henderson (19th-century signature on title); marginalia, gloss and ink scoring in various hands, mostly early, including a horoscope taken from Pietro Pitati. Adams P2227; Phillips, Atlases 367.
