AN IRISH REGENCY MAHOGANY DINING-TABLE AND ACCOMPANYING SIDEBOARD
The dining-table comprising a twin-flapped D-shaped end section and four extra leaves; the end section with gate-leg action supporting the fall flap and a concertina action, the end section with a panelled frieze, the six ring-turned and spirally-reeded baluster legs with brass caps and castors, the gate-leg repaired at the top; when dismantled the table fits into the recess of the sideboard;
The sideboard with ebonised stringing, the bow-fronted top surmounted by a shaped cresting with confronting lotus-leaves scrolls with flowerhead medallions and palmette centre, above a shallow breakfront panelled frieze concealing a flap and sliding lopers for the leaves flanked by the pedestals with rectangular waisted top, above a deep panelled drawer flanked by panelled vines and above a door with semi-detached spirally-reeded columns, enclosing on one side a shelf and deep drawer and on the other two sliding drawers, on sabre legs
The table 110¾in. (281cm.) long, fully extended; 28in. (71cm.) high; 48in. (122cm.) deep
The sideboard 83in. (211cm.) wide; 49¼in. (125cm.) high; 24½in. (62cm.) deep (2)

The dining-table and its sideboard, fitted with a leaf-box for the entire table, was acquired around 1970 from a descendant of the sculptor Richard Cockle Lucas (d. 1883).
