The case with skirted (previously double footed) plinth with raised rectangular panel, concave mouldings to the shouldered rectangular trunk door, the shallow-arched hood with reeded stop-chamfered angles flanking the ogee-moulded door, the silvered engraved regulator dial signed John Holmes. Strand. London. with counterpoised blued steel hands, bolt-and-shutter lever by 15, blued steel securing screws to the dial feet secured to the movement with eight latched baluster pillars, the high count train with finely crossed-out wheels, Vulliamy-type deadbeat escapement with fine adjustement to the crutchpiece for the later wood-rod pendulum, bolt-and-shutter maintaining power, brass screwed and sliding dust covers sealing the plates
