The silvered dial signed and numbered CONRAD WIEGAND, PEINE 41, Roman hour numerals, gold hour and minute hands, subisidiary seconds and up-and-down dials with blued steel hands, Earnshaw escapement, Guillaume bimetallic balance, the steel cross-arm inscribed with the initials RGG within a triangle, blued steel helical balance spring, flat polished steel detent with jewelled locking stone to side of banking block, reversed fusee, the frame and dial plate numbered 41, brass bowl with lead counter-weight and scallop plate inscribed 940 and numbered 41, gimballed in plain three-tier mahogany box with external brass drop handles, the centre section with small silvered rectangular plaque inscribed CONRAD WIEGAND, PEINE No. 41 and an identical plaque on the inside of the top lid, inset in the top lid a recess for taking the key of the box, and on the top an inset brass shield inscribed with the crown of the Imperial German Navy above the letter M and 940
