Some initials and capital strokes supplied in red by an early amateur hand. (Lacking c4-d1, E1 and final blank E6, f1 misbound, h3-i3 holed at inner blank margins, some worming and old staining.) Contemporary oak boards (with remains of leather-backing, stitching broken, worn). Provenance: early manuscript gloss, marginal notes and extensive 6pp. index in two (or possibly three) different hands; unidentifiable signature dated 1508; Filippo Neri (signature); later inscription ('Casa Neri'); Lord Rendlesham (armorial bookplate dated 1810).
The 16th-century owner of this book, Filippo Neri, may be the saint (1515-1595). He sold his books at the age of 23. One of only three books printed by this anonymous press, all produced in the same year.
