RUBENS, Peter Paul (1577-1640). -- A 66-leaf album [compiled circa 1770]. 2° (519 x 354mm). 77 cut-down and mounted engravings (comprising 59 examples of title-pages, frontispieces, page-surrounds and vignettes designed by Rubens and (?)others, together with 18 variant of duplicate prints), 24 of the engravings "before letters". (All close-shaved to their plate marks, occasionally shaved into the image area, a few small neat repairs). 18th-century red morocco, tooled in gilt and blind, g.e. (extremities scuffed). Provenance: unidentified collector's mark on the 15th plate; Frank Linsly James (armorial bookplate).
