8° (146 x 100mm). Collation: A-88. First blank leaf. (Slightly soiled, rust-hole on C7 affects a few letters, marginal tears.) Contemporary calf (worn, loose). Provenance: John Tapp (signature on end-paper dated 1741, with receipts on a few leaves).

RARE. Wing R-2418 lists five locations, the Bodleian Library, the Royal College of Surgeons and the Wellcome Institute in England, the University of Rochester and the National Library of Medicine at Bethesda in America. Ryder, who was Surgeon in Ordinary to His Majesty, is recorded as the author of two other works on surgery, both of which are equally rare.
