JUNG, Carl Gustav (1875-1961). Two autograph letters and one postcard signed to Alfred Adler, Küsnach bei Zurich, the first 3 June 1909, asking him if he could contribute an article to the forthcoming volume of the Jahrbuch [i.e. Jahrbuch für psychopathologische u. psychoanalytische Forschungen], one page, 4to; the second a postcard 10 Aug. 1909, 'Your article [Über neurotische Dispositionen] will appear in the next volume, even though other manuscripts had to be relegated', address on verso; the third 10 July 1911, 'Your letter surprises me. The rumour of which you inform me is absolutely false. I would never wish to be involved in the internal matters of the Viennese group. I had always believed your controversies with Freud to be purely scientific and that there would be no question of your leaving the Association. I am most surprised that this matter became a clash of personalities that led to your resignation ... As regards my position as to your scientific views, I must admit that I cannot altogether follow you', etc., 1½ pages, 4to (small split in outer margin). (3)
