Lot Essay

The author (AH 677/1278 AD - AH 746/1345 AD) was born in Ardabil, educated in Baghdad, and taught at the Madrasa Hussamiyah in Cairo, where he wrote this work and finally died. He is the author of a number of works on fiqh, scholastic philosophy and mathematics.
Jami' al-Qawa'id was completed in AH 723/1323 AD, and this copy was made from the author's own hand-written copy by al-Buwayti who was a student of the author. The present lot appears to be the only copy of this work.
At the end of the work there is a copy of an ijazah dated 4th Rabi II 736, given to the author by Zayn al-Din b. Shahab al-Din b. Zahir al-Din al-Qalyubi.
