A German two-hand processional sword
in early 17th Century style
The double-edged blade with waved edges and long leather-covered ricasso with downcurved side-lugs, incised on one face with the date 1607, and on the other with a shield of arms, the hilt with arched quillons with slender pointed scrolled tips, on each side similar applied scrolls, large side-ring forming a fleur-de-lys on each side, cylindrical pommel of octagonal section with large button, and spirally-grooved wooden grip studded with dome-headed iron rivets
