A 28-bore German wheel-lock holster pistol
circa 1650
With two-stage barrel struck at the breech with two indistinct marks and a barrelsmith's mark 'HK' conjoined in a rectangle (Neue Støckel 2960), rounded lock retained by three screws and struck on the inside with maker's mark 'NB' (similar to Neue Støckel 4100), ebonised full stock carved at the barrel tang and opposite the lock with scrollwork and foliage heightened with brass pins, all on a punched ground, oval pommel bound with an iron band and carved as a flowerhead heightened with brass pins, and iron mounts and fore-end cap (trigger and guard replaced, barrel pins and ramrod missing, fore-stock with minor chips and cracks)
