A rare 40-bore Nuremberg all-steel wheel-lock belt pistol
Late 16th Century
With swamped two-stage barrel etched and gilt with mauresques and chevron designs and struck at the breech with the initials 'PD' (for Peter Danner) and an 'N', bevelled lock etched and gilt en suite and struck with the locksmith's mark and the Nuremberg mark, full stock also etched and gilt, the decoration enclosing, on the left side, three oval cartouches of animals of the chase, leather-bound grip, iron belt hook (tip replaced), and iron-tipped ramrod
