An early French gilt-brass striking carriage clock
Unsigned, movement No. 659, circa 1845
The twin barrel movement with gilt platform lever escapement with plain three-arm balance, strike/repeat/alarm on bell on the backplate with key squares for the twin barrel wind, alarm barrel wind, calendar and alarm set, the dial with Roman silvered chapter disc with foliate engraved centre and blued moon hands, similarly engraved subsidiary discs below for calendar and alarm, the case with large bevelled glass panels to the front and sides and the top surmounted by a carrying handle with push repeat button, solid rear door with shutters for hand set and wind, the base on bun feet
