Engraved double-page frontispiece, 66 plates (62 double-page, 2 folding) by Cornelis Galle after Francquart. (Small tears to the additional title and both folding plates.) Contemporary speckled calf, spine gilt (neat repairs to corners, upper joint and head and foot of spine.) Provenance: lengthy bibliographical note in French on front free endpaper in an unidentified 19th-century hand.

A fine series of plates commemorating the obsequies for Archduke Albert VII of Austria, nephew and son-in-law of Philip IV of Spain, and from 1596 until his death in 1621 governor of the Netherlands. It was originally published in Brussels in 1623: this reprint employs the same plates with the addition of a description of the obsequies for Albert's widow. Princess Isabella, and a plate of the catafalque erected for her in the church of St.Jacques du Coudenberg on March 3rd 1634. The text comprises a eulogy by the royal historian Puteanus (the French translation by Philippe Chifflet), and a description of the ceremony and funeral layout. Palau 242405; Vinet 622.
