With circular bowl pierced and engraved with a cypher with basket of flowers above within panels of diaperwork, the handle cast and chased with lion's mask terminal with a shell and fruiting foliage tendril beneath, on a matted ground, the reverse with feather decoration, the stem and bowl junction cast and chased with a shell, the bowl engraved with a crest

Lot Essay

A very similar straining spoon is in the Frick Collection, New York and is attributed to Paul de Lamerie. A pair of related spoons, also attributed to de Lamerie are in the collection of the Duke of Bedford, Woburn Abbey.
