The present painting, dated by Morassi circa 1720-2 when Tiepolo was developing a more luminous style, can be compared to the four mythological paintings in the Accademia, Venice, Inv. nos. ...... These paintings which were until 1922 attributed to Sebastiano Ricci were correctly reassigned by Herman Voss to Tiepolo and are now recognised as highly important paintings from Tiepolo's early period.
